It’s that time of year again. The Northern Kentucky / Greater Cincinnati area winds begin to blow and the rain begins to pour. Undoubtedly we will experience hail and high-winds at some point in the season. While we hope you do not experience damage at all, our goal to help you be as prepared as possible to avoid as much as you possibly can.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. A famous quote we are all familiar with, could apply well to maintaining our roof and keeping it in the best possible condition to withstand the stormy season. To insure your roof is in the best possible condition before the storms hit, have the roof inspected and repaired if necessary. If you are a handy man, and can walk the roof of your home safely, you can do a general inspection yourself. (please use proper safety equipment)

Here are a few things to look for when preparing for the summer storms:

(For a more extensive inspection, contact a professional.)

  • Shingling that is missing or broken

  • Shingling that curls or buckles

  • Surface granules of shingles worn

  • Cracks in the caulking or missing caulk

  • Rotting or tear in the rubber booting around pipes

  • Cracking in chimneys or any missing capping

  • Condition of gutters

While this is a short list, it will certainly get you started in the right direction to being prepared as much as possible for the Northen Ky / Greater Cincinnati storm season.
